Jim Carrey Shares His First Cartoon Creation When Announcing Exit From Twitter

Jim Carrey is the latest celebrity to say goodbye to Twitter following Elon Musk’s takeover. When announcing his departure, the “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” star showed off his first cartoon creation to his fans.

On Tuesday, November 29, the 60-year-old made the announcement. “I’m leaving Twitter, but first here’s a cartoon I made with my friend Jimmy Hayward,” he wrote at the start.

Jim went on to explain more about his artwork. “It’s based on my painting of a crazy old Lighthouse Keeper standing naked in a storm, summoning the angels and shining his lamp to guide us through a treacherous night,” he explained.

After Elon completed his $44 billion deal, Jim joined the ranks of Gigi Hadid, Sara Bareilles, and Whoopi Goldberg in leaving the Blue Bird app. Shonda Rhimes, the creator of “Grey’s Anatomy,” Tea Leoni, Mick Foley, Toni Braxton, Soulja Boy, and Elon Musk’s ex Amber Heard have all left the microblogging site.

Trent Reznor also joined the mass exodus. Despite his belief that Twitter was a “toxic environment” even without Elon’s involvement, he left the app for good following Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s $44 billion takeover of the platform.

“We don’t need the billionaire class’s arrogance to think they can just come in and solve everything,” Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor told The Hollywood Reporter. “Even without him involved, I just find that it has become such a toxic environment; I need to tune out for my mental health; I don’t feel good being there anymore.”

It was revealed that the spread of hate on Twitter has increased since Elon officially took over the platform. According to the Network Contagion Research Institute, the use of the N-word on the site increased by nearly 500% in the 12-hour period following the acquisition by the business magnate.
