‘Titanic’ Voted As Film With The Best Cinematic Experience
According to a recent poll, “Titanic” is the “greatest” movie to see in a theater. In a new survey conducted by OnePoll between November 1 and 3, 2022 on behalf of the recently reopened BFI IMAX, the 1997 blockbuster “Avatar,” directed by James Cameron and starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet as a pair of star-crossed lovers aboard the ill-fated ship, was found to offer the best cinematic experience to viewers.
The study also reveals that half of Brits feel more immersed and connected to blockbusters when watched at the theater because they get distracted by their phones when using a streaming service like Netflix or Disney+, and that four out of ten feel guilty after watching a blockbuster at home rather than on the big screen.
According to a BFI IMAX spokesperson, “some of the top directors identified on this list, including [Christopher] Nolan, [Peter] Jackson, [James] Cameron, and [Steven] Spielberg] are masters of their craft in maximizing use of the screen and the soundscape in their films, to deliver an experience that can only truly be appreciated in cinemas.”
Filmmakers have shown that film is one of the best platforms for conveying anything from the smallest-scale storytelling to blockbuster movies that break box office records.
The spokesman went on to say that moviegoers may now appreciate movies the way the directors intended them to be enjoyed, making the new IMAX experience “more than just a night out.” The theater offers an opportunity to enjoy films without the distractions of home, they continued, “more than just a night out and a chance to view the biggest films released in the way their directors intended.”
